Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 lbs beef brisket
  • 2 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke

Instructions

  1. Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, black pepper, and salt.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket.
  4. Place the brisket in the smoker and cook for about 6-8 hours, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 195°F (90°C).
  5. While the brisket is smoking, prepare the sweet tomato BBQ sauce by combining tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke in a saucepan over medium heat.
  6. Simmer the sauce for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Once the brisket is done, remove it from the smoker and let it rest for 30 minutes before slicing.
  8. Serve the sliced brisket with the sweet tomato BBQ sauce on the side.

Notes

  • For best results, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the brisket.
  • Letting the brisket rest is crucial for juicy slices.
  • This recipe can be adapted for a slow cooker if a smoker is not available.
