Ingredients
Scale
- 4 lbs beef brisket
- 2 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp liquid smoke
Instructions
- Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C).
- In a bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, black pepper, and salt.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket.
- Place the brisket in the smoker and cook for about 6-8 hours, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 195°F (90°C).
- While the brisket is smoking, prepare the sweet tomato BBQ sauce by combining tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Simmer the sauce for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the brisket is done, remove it from the smoker and let it rest for 30 minutes before slicing.
- Serve the sliced brisket with the sweet tomato BBQ sauce on the side.
Notes
- For best results, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the brisket.
- Letting the brisket rest is crucial for juicy slices.
- This recipe can be adapted for a slow cooker if a smoker is not available.
