Ingredients

  • 4 lbs beef brisket
  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke

Instructions

  1. Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, black pepper, and salt.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket.
  4. Place the brisket in the smoker and cook for about 6-8 hours, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 195°F (90°C).
  5. While the brisket is cooking, prepare the tomato-based sauce by combining tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and liquid smoke in a saucepan. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  6. Once the brisket is done, remove it from the smoker and let it rest for 30 minutes before slicing.
  7. Serve the sliced brisket with the tomato-based sauce on the side.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the brisket overnight with the spice rub.
  • Adjust the level of liquid smoke according to your taste preference.
  • Leftover brisket can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
