Description
Rice Cooker Tteokbokki is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that combines traditional Korean rice cakes with a spicy sauce, perfect for Iftar during Ramadan.
Ingredients

- 2 cups of rice cakes (tteok)
- 2 cups of water
- 1 tablespoon of gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
- 1 green onion, chopped
- 1 boiled egg (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the rice cakes under cold water and soak them for about 30 minutes.
- In the rice cooker, combine water, gochujang, soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil.
- Add the soaked rice cakes to the mixture in the rice cooker.
- Close the lid and set the rice cooker to the ‘cook’ setting.
- Once the rice cooker switches to ‘warm’, stir the mixture and let it sit for an additional 10 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and serve with a boiled egg if desired.
Notes
- Adjust the spice level by adding more or less gochujang.
- For a vegetarian option, ensure the soy sauce is plant-based.
- Leftover tteokbokki can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
