Description

Rice Cooker Tteokbokki is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that combines traditional Korean rice cakes with a spicy sauce, perfect for Iftar during Ramadan.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups of rice cakes (tteok)
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 tablespoon of gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 1 boiled egg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice cakes under cold water and soak them for about 30 minutes.
  2. In the rice cooker, combine water, gochujang, soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil.
  3. Add the soaked rice cakes to the mixture in the rice cooker.
  4. Close the lid and set the rice cooker to the ‘cook’ setting.
  5. Once the rice cooker switches to ‘warm’, stir the mixture and let it sit for an additional 10 minutes.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve with a boiled egg if desired.
