Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly into two bowls. Add red food coloring to one bowl and blue food coloring to the other, mixing until the colors are vibrant.
- Using a spoon, alternate spoonfuls of red and blue batter into each cupcake liner.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting with cream cheese frosting.
Notes
- For a more intense color, add more food coloring as desired.
