Ingredients

  • 1 cup glutinous rice
  • 1 1/2 cups coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 ripe mangoes, sliced
  • Sesame seeds or mung beans for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  3. Drain the rice and steam it for about 30 minutes until cooked.
  4. In a saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat until the sugar dissolves.
  5. Once the rice is cooked, mix in about 1 cup of the coconut milk mixture and let it sit for 30 minutes.
  6. To serve, place a portion of sticky rice in a bowl, top with sliced mango, and drizzle with the remaining coconut milk mixture.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds or mung beans if desired.
