Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup diced apples
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until well combined.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the diced apples and walnuts (if using).
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. While the blondies are baking, prepare the maple glaze by whisking together the maple syrup and powdered sugar until smooth.
  10. Once the blondies are done, let them cool for a few minutes before drizzling the maple glaze on top.
  11. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • For a richer flavor, use dark brown sugar instead of light brown sugar.
  • Feel free to substitute the apples with other fruits like pears or peaches.
