Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices of cheese (American or cheddar)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon pickle relish
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  2. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and form them into loose balls.
  3. Place the beef balls on the hot skillet and smash them down with a spatula to form patties.
  4. Season the patties with salt and pepper.
  5. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until a crust forms, then flip the patties.
  6. Add a slice of cheese on top of each patty and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts.
  7. While the burgers are cooking, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, garlic powder, and onion powder to make the secret sauce.
  8. Toast the burger buns on the skillet until golden brown.
  9. Assemble the burgers by spreading the secret sauce on the bottom bun, adding the patty, and topping with the other half of the bun.
