- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices of cheese (American or cheddar)
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1 tablespoon pickle relish
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
- Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and form them into loose balls.
- Place the beef balls on the hot skillet and smash them down with a spatula to form patties.
- Season the patties with salt and pepper.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes until a crust forms, then flip the patties.
- Add a slice of cheese on top of each patty and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts.
- While the burgers are cooking, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, garlic powder, and onion powder to make the secret sauce.
- Toast the burger buns on the skillet until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by spreading the secret sauce on the bottom bun, adding the patty, and topping with the other half of the bun.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add sautéed onions or pickles as toppings.
- Adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences.
- These burgers can be cooked on a grill as well.
