- 4 lbs pork shoulder
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 8 hamburger buns
- Coleslaw (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- In a bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and sugar.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
- Place the pork in a roasting pan and add the apple cider vinegar and water.
- Cover the pan with foil and roast in the oven for about 6 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
- Remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Shred the pork using two forks and mix it with the cooking juices.
- Serve the pulled pork on hamburger buns, topped with vinegar sauce and coleslaw if desired.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the pork shoulder overnight with the spice rub.
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to control the heat level.
- This dish can also be made in a slow cooker for convenience.
