Description
Beer Can Chicken is a flavorful and juicy dish that combines the unique cooking method of using a beer can to infuse moisture and flavor into the chicken while it cooks on the grill.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 whole chicken (about 4–5 lbs)
- 1 can of beer (12 oz)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons BBQ spice rub
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to medium heat (about 350°F).
- In a small bowl, mix the BBQ spice rub, salt, and black pepper.
- Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and rub the olive oil all over the chicken.
- Generously apply the BBQ spice rub all over the chicken, including inside the cavity.
- Open the can of beer and drink or pour out half of it.
- Insert the beer can into the cavity of the chicken, ensuring it stands upright.
- Place the chicken on the grill, standing upright on the beer can.
- Close the grill lid and cook for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Carefully remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
Notes
- For added flavor, you can use flavored beer such as a citrus or hoppy beer.
- Make sure to monitor the grill temperature to avoid burning the chicken.
- Letting the chicken rest after cooking helps retain its juices.
