- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 cup of rice
- 1 pound ground beef or lamb
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and blanch the cabbage leaves for 2-3 minutes until softened.
- In a skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
- Add the ground meat and cook until browned.
- Stir in the rice, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Place a spoonful of the filling onto each cabbage leaf and roll tightly.
- Arrange the rolls in a baking dish and cover with any remaining tomato sauce.
- Bake for 45 minutes, covered with foil.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, substitute ground meat with lentils or mushrooms.
- These rolls can be made ahead of time and frozen for later use.
