Description

Turkish delight, also known as lokum, is a traditional sweet confectionery that is soft, chewy, and often flavored with various ingredients such as rosewater, lemon, or nuts.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup rosewater
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (pistachios or walnuts)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, and water. Stir until smooth.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  3. Add rosewater and cream of tartar, and continue to cook for another 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in the chopped nuts.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased pan and let it cool for several hours or overnight.
  6. Once set, cut into squares and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
