- 2 pounds of potatoes
- 1/2 cup of butter
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1 cup of sour cream
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup of shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel and chop the potatoes into chunks.
- Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
- Add butter, heavy cream, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the potatoes.
- Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy.
- If using, stir in the shredded cheese.
- Transfer the mashed potatoes to a baking dish and smooth the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until heated through and slightly golden on top.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add chives or green onions.
- Can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving.
