Soft Turkish Bazlama is a fluffy skillet bread that is perfect for tearing and sharing with friends and family.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into equal portions.
  6. Roll each portion into a ball and flatten it into a disc.
  7. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook each disc for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  8. Remove from skillet and cover with a clean towel to keep warm.

Notes

  • Serve warm with dips or as a side to your favorite dishes.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
