- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Fruits for decoration (e.g., candied fruits)
Instructions
- In a bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 10 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
- Add the yeast mixture, eggs, butter, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Shape the dough into a ring and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Let the dough rise again for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Decorate the top of the dough with candied fruits.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let it cool before serving.
Notes
- Traditionally, a small figurine is hidden inside the bread.
- Whoever finds the figurine is expected to host a party on Candlemas Day.
- Serve with hot chocolate or coffee for a delightful experience.
