- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Fresh strawberries for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a jelly roll pan.
- In a bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt, then fold into the egg mixture.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 12-15 minutes.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before rolling it up in a clean kitchen towel.
- While the cake cools, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Unroll the cooled cake, spread the whipped cream evenly, and roll it back up.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
- Slice and garnish with fresh strawberries before serving.
Notes
- Make sure to roll the cake while it’s still warm to prevent cracking.
- You can substitute the whipped cream with a vegan alternative for a dairy-free version.
- Feel free to add chocolate shavings or other fruits for decoration.
