- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- 1 cup buttermilk

- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup cream cheese
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract.
- Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle.
- Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut into rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- While baking, prepare the cream cheese frosting by mixing cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
- Once rolls are baked, let them cool slightly and then frost with cream cheese frosting.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the filling.
- These rolls can be made ahead and frozen before baking.
