- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon rosewater
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine sugar and water over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch with 1 cup of water until smooth.
- Slowly add the cornstarch mixture to the sugar syrup, stirring constantly.
- Add lemon juice and cream of tartar, and continue to cook on low heat for about 30 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Once the mixture thickens and turns a light golden color, remove from heat and stir in rosewater.
- Pour the mixture into a greased pan and let it cool for several hours or overnight.
- Once set, cut into squares and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- For a different flavor, you can substitute rosewater with orange blossom water.
- Make sure to dust the Turkish Delight with powdered sugar to prevent sticking.
