Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup pomegranate juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar and water, and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. In another bowl, mix cornstarch, lemon juice, and pomegranate juice until smooth.
  3. Slowly add the cornstarch mixture to the boiling sugar mixture, stirring constantly.
  4. Add cream of tartar and continue to stir until the mixture thickens.
  5. If using, fold in the chopped nuts.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased pan and let it cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, cut into squares and dust with powdered sugar.

  • Ensure to stir constantly to prevent burning.
  • Let the lokum set for at least 4 hours before cutting.
