Ingredients

- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/2 cup pomegranate juice
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine sugar and water, and bring to a boil over medium heat.
- In another bowl, mix cornstarch, lemon juice, and pomegranate juice until smooth.
- Slowly add the cornstarch mixture to the boiling sugar mixture, stirring constantly.
- Add cream of tartar and continue to stir until the mixture thickens.
- If using, fold in the chopped nuts.
- Pour the mixture into a greased pan and let it cool completely.
- Once cooled, cut into squares and dust with powdered sugar.
Notes
- Ensure to stir constantly to prevent burning.
- Let the lokum set for at least 4 hours before cutting.
- Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
