- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cups peeled and sliced apples
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Add the softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Fold in the sliced apples and raisins (if using).
- Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the custard sauce.
- Serve the cake warm with the custard sauce drizzled on top.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use a mix of sweet and tart apples.
- Custard sauce can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving.
- Store leftover cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
