Description

A simple and delicious recipe for a comforting pierogi casserole made in a crock pot.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package frozen pierogies (about 16 oz)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, melt butter and sauté the diced onion until translucent.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the sour cream and cream of mushroom soup.
  3. Layer half of the frozen pierogies in the bottom of the crock pot.
  4. Spread half of the sour cream mixture over the pierogies.
  5. Sprinkle half of the sautéed onions and half of the cheddar cheese on top.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or until the pierogies are heated through and the cheese is melted.

Notes

  • Feel free to add cooked bacon or sausage for extra flavor.
  • Can substitute cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken if desired.
  • For a vegetarian option, ensure the pierogies are meat-free.
