Halloween witch fingers that will surprise everyone!


Ingredients

  • 1 cup of butter, softened
  • 1 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • Almonds (for fingernails)
  • Red food coloring (for blood)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until well combined.
  6. Shape the dough into finger shapes and place them on a baking sheet.
  7. Press an almond into the tip of each finger to create a fingernail.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden.
  9. Once cooled, use red food coloring to add ‘blood’ around the almond fingernails.

Notes

  • Make sure the dough is not too sticky; if it is, add a little more flour.
  • These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
  • For a spooky effect, you can add more food coloring to the dough.
