A delicious twist on the classic sloppy joe, featuring tender beef cooked in a rich French onion sauce and topped with melted cheese.
Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 cup shredded cheese (Swiss or provolone)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Add the sliced onions and garlic to the skillet, cooking until the onions are soft and translucent.
- Stir in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until the mixture thickens.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Place the beef mixture on the hamburger buns and top with shredded cheese.
- Bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- For a spicier version, add some red pepper flakes.
- Can be served with a side of fries or a salad.
