- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together.
- Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture on top.
- Pour the remaining batter over the cinnamon sugar layer and top with the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the icing by mixing powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
- Once the cake is done, drizzle the icing over the warm cake and serve.
Notes
- This cake can be served warm or at room temperature.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- For a richer flavor, add chopped nuts or raisins to the batter.
