Description

Cherry Turkish Taffy is a chewy, sweet candy that combines the unique flavor of cherries with a traditional Turkish taffy texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cherry extract
  • Red food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt over medium heat.
  2. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture comes to a boil.
  3. Continue boiling without stirring until the mixture reaches the hard ball stage (around 250°F or 121°C).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in cherry extract and food coloring if desired.
  5. Pour the mixture onto a greased surface and let it cool slightly.
  6. Once cool enough to handle, knead the taffy until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  7. Shape the taffy into small pieces or roll it into a log and cut into bite-sized pieces.
  8. Wrap the pieces in wax paper to keep them fresh.

Notes

  • Be careful when handling hot sugar mixtures to avoid burns.
  • Store the taffy in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
  • Experiment with different flavors by substituting cherry extract with other fruit extracts.
