- 1 cup warm water (110°F to 115°F)
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1/2 cup cream cheese
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon taco seasoning
- Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll the dough into small balls and stuff each with cheese.
- In a pot, bring water to a boil and add baking soda.
- Boil the pretzel bites for 30 seconds, then remove and place on the baking sheet.
- Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- For the nacho dip, mix cream cheese, milk, and taco seasoning in a bowl until smooth.
- Serve the pretzel bites warm with the nacho dip.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add garlic powder to the dough.
- These pretzel bites can be frozen and reheated later.
- Experiment with different types of cheese for stuffing.
