Description

Delicious caramel-coated apples that are perfect for a sweet treat or festive occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts, sprinkles, or chocolate

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly, then insert a stick into the top of each apple.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sugar, butter, corn syrup, and salt over medium heat.
  3. Stir until the mixture comes to a boil, then stop stirring and let it boil until it reaches 240°F (soft ball stage).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Dip each apple into the caramel, allowing excess to drip off.
  6. Place the coated apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Optional: sprinkle with toppings while the caramel is still warm.
  8. Let the caramel apples cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • Use tart apples for a nice contrast with the sweet caramel.
  • Make sure the apples are at room temperature for better caramel adherence.
  • Store in a cool, dry place to prevent the caramel from becoming sticky.
