Description

Capirotada Fácil is a traditional Mexican bread pudding made with layers of bread, cheese, and a sweet syrup, perfect for celebrating Lent or any special occasion.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups of bolillo bread, cubed
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 cup of shredded cheese (such as queso fresco or mozzarella)
  • 1/2 cup of raisins
  • 1/2 cup of chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan, combine water, brown sugar, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil and stir until sugar is dissolved.
  3. In a baking dish, layer half of the cubed bread, followed by half of the cheese, raisins, and nuts.
  4. Pour half of the syrup over the layers.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients, finishing with the syrup on top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  7. Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
